The New Year

January 19, 2012

Hello and welcome to my official website!

As we head into 2012, I am so pleased with Adrian Dix’s determination to make public education and seniors’ health care priorities.  Here in Oak Bay-Gordon Head, the University and Camosun College are the financial and cultural heart of the riding.  By the way, there are some pretty exciting theatrical and musical adventures waiting for us at UVic – and they are quite affordable.   In late March and April, I’ll post the dates for the BFA and MFA shows in Visual Arts at UVic where my partner works.  This will be another great time to socialize and take in the students’ work.

As for me, I am headed out on the doorstep to meet and listen to our constituents’ concerns.  Our elders are vulnerable and require advocacy.  Again I am pleased with Adrian Dix’s determination to appoint a Seniors’ Representative who will have a similar mandate to our wonderful Children’s Representative, Mary-Ellen Turpel-Lafond.

My contact information is right here for you.  Please do let me know if you have questions or would like to discuss an issue.  Constituents have done a superb job educating me about environmental issues such as tankers in the Straight, the Juan de Fuca lands, water rights, the backlog in the court system, seniors’ health, underfunding in Early Childhood Education right the way up to PHD.  These briefings and your expertise are a pleasure for me and will deepen my knowledge as an MLA.

Onward and upward !   With best wishes,

Jessica
